Description
Scindapsus pictus grows as an epiphyte, meaning it lives on trees rather than in soil. It uses its aerial roots to cling to tree bark in the shaded understories of Southeast Asian tropical rainforests. The plant features thick, velvety, heart-shaped leaves with a matte green background and silvery-white blotches. The silver coloration is caused by tiny air pockets within the leaf tissue that reflect light. This structure helps the vine efficiently capture sparse light in the dense forest canopy.
