Description
Alocasia amazonica develops from a thickened underground corm. This organ serves as a reservoir for water and nutrients during periods of unfavorable conditions. From the central growth point rises a compact rosette of large arrow-shaped leaves on long petioles. The leaf blades have a dark green glossy surface with a metallic tint and a waxy coating, and wide silvery-white stripes run along the veins with a raised scalloped edge.
